Then, just like in a regular classroom, they regularly attend lectures and complete course work, homework, readings, and examinations. Students log into the school’s portal, which is a designated website dedicated to delivering the student his or her assignments. This portal is also where students will digitally hand in their completed course work. Depending on the class and school in which the student is enrolled, lectures may be delivered as video recordings, Power Point slides, or a textbook format and course work may be written assignments or group projects. In addition to completing course work, medical assisting students will have to fulfill outside clinical work to gain hands-on experience in the field. These are usually coordinated through the online school, which either provides a list of approved local clinics in which the student can complete their clinicals or the school may give the student permission to work at an alternative clinic.
